Root Canals / Endodontic Therapy

Root canals are often necessary when the nerve deep inside a tooth becomes inflamed or infected. Infection leads to an abscess, and an abscessed tooth can be very painful.

At Dr. Susang's office, we know that root canals have a reputation for being unpleasant. Don't worry. Dr. Susang is known for her caring and careful approach to treating your abscessed tooth.

After your root canal therapy is complete, a crown is recommended for support of the remaining tooth structure. The crown often improves both the appearance of the tooth and chewing ability.

Bridges

A dental bridge fills in the gap when you have a missing tooth between two healthy teeth. Modern bridges are made to have the look and feel of natural teeth, and they provide a number of benefits. Bridges can help you speak more clearly, improve your smile, maintain tooth alignment, and aid in chewing.

Implant Restorations

One of the best options to replace missing teeth is implants. A single missing tooth can be replaced by a single implant - it is like growing your tooth back again.

For several missing teeth, an implant bridge or an implant retained partial denture may be the way to go.

Implants are also used to retain complete dentures - allowing for improved retention and stability of the denture and improving the overall functioning of the denture for eating, talking and smiling.

A dental implant is a small titanium post implanted where the missing tooth was located. It acts like the root of your missing tooth. Dr. Susang works with several excellent local oral surgeons who evaluate and place the implant "root" portion of the implant restoration.

If a dental implant is right for you, Dr. Susang will refer you to an Oral Surgeon for placement of the implant root. Once the implant root is in place, Dr. Susang will see you for the "above the gum" implant restoration. The final restoration may be an implant crown, implant bridge, or implant retained complete dentures or partial dentures.
